German Economy Shows No Growth in Q3

(MENAFN) The German economy recorded 0% growth in the third quarter of this year compared with the previous quarter, according to the federal statistical office Destatis, which released the data on Tuesday.

Ruth Brand, president of Destatis, noted, “Weak exports had a dampening effect on economic activity in the 3rd quarter.”

This follows a contraction of 0.3% in the country’s economy during the second quarter of 2025.

In terms of overall spending, final consumption expenditure remained flat in the third quarter, though differing patterns emerged between household and government consumption.

Household spending fell for the first time since the fourth quarter of 2023, partly due to reduced expenditure on food, beverage services, and accommodation services.

Conversely, government consumption grew once more, increasing by 0.8% from the prior quarter, signaling ongoing public sector support to the economy.

On an annual scale, Germany’s economy expanded by 0.3% in the third quarter, indicating modest growth compared with the same period last year.
